The American Team In Paris Des Peres Travel has been taking care of the travel needs for the American Team since 1987. Starting with 10 riders from St. Louis in 1987 to about 500 travelers (riders/family members and support) in 1999 and 600 in 2003. For PBP 2007, we have reserved a large number of hotel rooms in St.Quentin en Yvelines – all within 3 miles from the Start/Finish. Most of the hotel rooms are small and have single or double occupancy only. We have received comments that there was not enough space for triple occupancy in some of the hotels. All hotels provide separate and secure storage for bikes and cases. IT IS PROHIBITED TO TAKE BIKES TO YOUR ROOMS. We also have rooms in Loudeac and Fougeres and other locations upon request. We have again a Celebration and Farewell Dinner on Saturday, August 25, 2007. In 2003, the restaurant was filled to capacity with 350 joyful PBP’ers. Our guests of honor will be Mr. Pierre Theobald, president of the Audax Club Parisien, as well as Mr. Robert and Mrs. Suzanne Lepertel, retired president. France and Europe have changed since 1999, mainly due to the introduction of the Euro, which makes traveling in Europe so much easier. However, the change to the Euro resulted in slight price increases of hotel rooms, as well the increased demand of hotels in St. Quentin during this special event. At the time of preparation of our website 2003 (in October 2002), one Euro represented one Dollar. From October 2002 to June 2003, the Euro rose to $ 1.17, which resulted in an increase of 17%, which forced us to apply a currency adjustment on all services (Hotels, transfers, Celebration Dinner, Bag Drop and Sightseeing), except the airfare, car rentals and Rail Road passes/tickets. Since then, the Euro has risen by another 9% (in three years) to $ 1.26 (Internet rate), which means a bank rate of $ 1.31. I hope that this rate will stabilize now, since one year, the rate has been quite stable. As mentioned under payment conditions, if from now to the final payment date, a change of more than 3% occurs; we will be in the obligation to charge or credit the difference to you. We are not doing any brochure mailing anymore since all the information we have is available on the Internet. Secured registration onsite is now available. All reservations must be done onsite or by email. We hope you like our homepage and the secured registration onsite. Confirmation of your reservation will be sent by email.
